This month, WRAP CEO Steve Jesseph and compliance manager Hong Mei headed to New York City to attend the 23rd Annual U.S. Association of Importers of Textiles and Apparel (US-ITA) conference.
Held at the Bridgewaters South Street Seaport on November 8, the annual event was planned by US-ITA in conjunction with the American Import Shippers
Approximately 300 professionals from the trade, sourcing, compliance and shipping industries attended the event; visiting the booths of 15 exhibitors
and listening to panelists speak on the latest and greatest news in apparel and shipping. Plenty of curious visitors stopped by the WRAP booth to learn about our compliance and certification processes.
During a panel on free trade in the Americas, Daniel Vazquez of the Inter-American Development Bank introduced the launch of
DR-CAFTAsourcing.com, an online database for manufacturers that operate in countries that are part of the Dominican Republic-Central America Free Trade Agreement (DR-CAFTA). Vazquez mentioned that WRAP is featured on the website in a factory profile.
WRAP board member Jeff Streader, an operating partner at Marlin Equity Partners and advisor to the Source ASEAN Full Service Alliance (SAFSA) spoke on sourcing and compliance in Southeast Asia, letting attendees know that SAFSA accepts WRAP certifications to meet its compliance needs.
A recent member of US-ITA, WRAP was pleased to participate in the event following an exciting year of changes in trade and transportation policy, including the passage of multiple U.S. free trade agreements with Colombia, Panama and South Korea.
