It threatens fairness, weakens morale, and reduces overall productivity \u2014 creating an environment where neither workers nor businesses can thrive.<br>As an organization committed to ethical business practices and responsible supply chain management, WRAP (Worldwide Responsible Accredited Production) champions dignity, fairness, and equal opportunity for all workers. That is why, among WRAP&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/wrapcompliance.org\/vi\/about\/what-we-do\/12-principles\/\" type=\"link\" id=\"https:\/\/wrapcompliance.org\/en\/about\/what-we-do\/12-principles\/\">12 nguy\u00ean t\u1eafc<\/a>, <strong>Principle 7: Prohibition of Discrimination<\/strong> stands as a central pillar.<\/p>\n\n<h2  class=\"appear-on-scroll wp-block-heading\" ><span class=\"text\">Forms and Impact of Workplace Discrimination<\/span><\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"appear-on-scroll\">Discrimination can appear in many areas of employment, including:<\/p>\n\n<ul  class=\"appear-on-scroll wp-block-list\" >\n<li>Recruitment and hiring<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Promotion and career advancement<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Wage distribution and overtime access<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Training and development opportunities<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Disciplinary actions and termination<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p class=\"appear-on-scroll\">Workers may experience bias based on race, gender, age, national origin, disability, pregnancy, religion, sexual orientation, political opinion, or social status.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"appear-on-scroll\">In my social compliance auditing experience, I have witnessed this firsthand. Female workers are sometimes overlooked for promotions or discouraged from applying for certain roles due to gender bias. Pregnant workers may face pressure during recruitment. Others are denied equal access to overtime, given unfair performance evaluations, or abruptly terminated for discriminatory reasons.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"appear-on-scroll\">These injustices do more than affect individuals. They weaken trust across the workforce, undermine engagement, and create an environment where talent remains underutilized. Often, the root cause is not intentional harm but simply a lack of awareness among supervisory and managerial staff about what discrimination looks like in practice \u2014 and how damaging it can be.<\/p>\n\n<h2  class=\"appear-on-scroll wp-block-heading\" ><span class=\"text\">WRAP\u2019s Preventive Approach<\/span><\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"appear-on-scroll\">WRAP promotes a zero\u2011tolerance stance on discrimination, supported by structured training, awareness programs, and robust auditing mechanisms. Our philosophy is simple: education and prevention are the strongest tools for change.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"appear-on-scroll\">Through its audit program, WRAP ensures that facilities conduct thorough risk assessments that address all potential forms of discrimination across every operational level. These assessments form the basis for actionable strategies designed to prevent discriminatory practices before they occur.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"appear-on-scroll\">To maintain a fair and inclusive workplace, WRAP requires facilities to:<\/p>\n\n<ol start=\"1\"  class=\"appear-on-scroll wp-block-list\" >\n<li><strong>Establish a clear anti\u2011discrimination policy<\/strong> aligned with local regulations and international norms.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Effectively communicate these policies<\/strong> to all employees, especially those involved in hiring, compensation, promotion, and termination.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Provide regular training<\/strong> to management and workers to build awareness and accountability.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Assign internal monitoring teams<\/strong> to oversee compliance and address grievances promptly and transparently.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Extend anti\u2011discrimination expectations<\/strong> to subcontractors and suppliers, ensuring alignment throughout the supply chain.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n<p class=\"appear-on-scroll\">This approach empowers facilities to build systems that protect both workers and organizational integrity.<\/p>\n\n<h2  class=\"appear-on-scroll wp-block-heading\" ><span class=\"text\">Building Inclusive and Sustainable Workplaces<\/span><\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"appear-on-scroll\">Eliminating discrimination is not solely a matter of compliance\u2014it is the foundation of building resilient, inclusive, and high\u2011performing organizations.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"appear-on-scroll\">Companies that uphold fairness and respect see stronger employee engagement, lower turnover, and better operational performance.
