There is a human behind the manufacturing of each product, a fact we celebrate this World Bicycle Day, June 3. By bringing people to the forefront of conversations, new industries are driving greater social compliance and collaboration across global supply chains.

In November, WRAP signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Taiwan Bicycle Association (TBA) which represents over 400 member facilities and the Bicycling Alliance for Sustainability (BAS), that promotes green innovation in the sector. This cooperation signified WRAP’s entrance into the bicycle industry, after previously focusing exclusively on sewn goods. The agreement aims to expand WRAP’s mission by supporting ethical working conditions for bicycle workers across Taiwan. Both TBA and BAS have committed to integrating WRAP’s certification standards into their processes, reinforcing a shared dedication to responsible production.

Collaboration efforts include information sharing, training and capacity building, as well as joint promotion and outreach—broadening WRAP’s impact in a new industry. At its core, WRAP remains committed to promoting safe, lawful, humane, and ethical manufacturing practices worldwide, now extending to the bicycle sector.

World Bicycle Day serves as a reminder of the individuals who shape the products we use every day. The next time you ride a bike, consider the people behind its creation—and even check whether it was produced in a WRAP-certified facility.
