WRAP is pleased to announce the signing of a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Tiruppur Exporters’ Association (TEA), India’s largest knitwear manufacturing hub.
On January 12, 2026, Avedis Seferian, WRAP President and CEO, and K.M. Subramanian, President of TEA, signed an agreement to deepen collaborative efforts to advance social compliance and expand apparel export opportunities to the U.S. market.
Schlüsselbereiche der Zusammenarbeit
Tiruppur holds a central position in India’s knitwear sector, contributing nearly 68% of the country’s total knitwear exports. It is also home to more than 160 of India’s 350 WRAP‑certified facilities, underscoring the cluster’s strong and enduring commitment to social compliance.
Through this formalized framework, the organizations will:
- Streamline access to WRAP certification for TEA member companies.
- Deliver structured awareness, training, and capacity‑building programs to help facilities strengthen internal systems and meet global standards.
- Leverage WRAP’s strong recognition in the U.S. sourcing landscape to support India’s international competitiveness.
Leveraging Global Expertise to Drive Growth
This MoU represents an important milestone for both WRAP and TEA given Tiruppur’s pivotal role in India’s apparel industry. By uniting WRAP’s global expertise and credibility with TEA’s strong industry leadership, the partnership will further strengthen responsible sourcing practices, raise manufacturing standards, and foster sustainable, competitive growth across the Tiruppur cluster.
